Psychological Principles: Instant Rapport
From Learn to be a true Social Engineer
Everybody wants to be liked so here is a method of combining techniques called “Instant Rapport”. Start by listening. Pay particular attention to the following information:
Size of Information
Speak few words? Lots of words? Do they speak fast? Slow? Use big words? Spit on the floor when someone’s name is mentioned? Be aware of these and slow/speed your pace to match theirs. Use big words. Don’t spit but scowl to show understanding. Speak like they do.
Size of Abstraction
Being able to shift logical levels. People live in cities, cities make a country, countries make a continent, continents make the earth.. This ability to change to different abstract levels is important in negations and relations. Stay on the same level with them.
Common experience: By letting them talk, you find common experience. Don’t interrupt at that time with a ME story. Wait some minutes, then tell your story, it shows you were listening to them.[1]
