WESTFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) - 22NEWS is working for you with a warning about a phishing scam you need to know about.

Many Westfield Bank customers have received telephone calls telling them their account's been breached.

One Westfield mom told 22News the call was convincing, and she almost fell for this scam.

"They said it was Westfield Bank and my debit account had been compromised and they asked for my pin number."

Linda did give the caller her account number but hung up on them before giving them her pin.

Westfield Bank's Security and Fraud Officer told 22News if their customer's information was compromised they would not ask for them to verify information on the phone.

"What we suggest to customers is that they call their bank for verification and not give information to people calling them."

Linda Swartz told 22News some customers did fall for this scam.

She hopes this story will prevent others from becoming victims.
